Thrive (Part 4) – A Plan

Thrive – A Plan will guide you through the process of transforming mindsets in your classroom. Not every plan will look the same, nor should it. Let’s see what you and your learners can create.

Create an action plan that ensures that you, as an educator, recognize and create a classroom environment that embraces an academic, growth mindset and helps to foster transformative mindsets in your students.

Process

Design the steps and processes that you will use in your classroom to have students develop a growth mindset. Think through the following steps and modify as necessary.

  1. Seek out best practices
    • Using the resources located in Expedition or other resources, create a list of best practices to:
      • foster an academic, growth mindset within yourself
      • foster an academic, growth mindset within your students
  2. Include
    • a way to track instances of using best practices in your classroom and in your relationships with learners and colleagues,
    • and create goals based on those best practices.
  3. Include others
    • Share your ideas/collaborate with others, including those in your department/grade-level, SPED teachers, principals, building counselors, and social workers. Consider sharing with your department or your PLN and get their trusted feedback.
  4. Create benchmarks to track your goals
    • A checklist of when a goal is achieved is a great way to track your growth.
